Mental health history Alcohol and other psychoactive drugs all affect cognition, emotions, moods and behaviours. They can, for instance, temporarily induce over confidence, mania or depression, confusion, disorientation, perceptual disturbances, euphoria, agitation, panic attacks, emotional lability, pressured, rapid or slurred speech, repetitious behaviours, fear or aggression. It is therefore important to include a mental health assessment as part of the overall ATOD assessment. Ask about: any previous psychiatric mental health problems such as depression, panic attacks, anxiety disorder, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia related admissions or medical treatment any medications prescribed for the disorder--past and present any known family history of mental health problems. The mental status examination includes observing and asking questions relevant to: current level of consciousness--any confusion level of orientation--to time, person and place quality of memory--recent and past recall logical judgement--are the person's responses rational? do their ideas make sense given the context? affect--does the person seem unduly anxious, depressed, flat, blunted, inconsistent with person's expressed mood etc.? Do the person's emotions, posture, facial expression etc. seem natural for their present situation? speech--manner of speech, speech pattern, possible disorders, aphasia, dysarthria, incoherent, disjointed, perservation, flight of ideas, how e.g. loud, soft, fast, pressured ; form--the thoughts relate to each other, logical behaviour--approach reaction to you and their assessment interview. Does the person maintain normal eye contact if this is appropriate for their culture? What is the person doing during their assessment interview? What is their behaviour like restlessness, hand wringing, pacing, lethargic and sleepy ; ? comprehension--understanding simple instructions abnormality of perception--visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory hallucinations. Are any auditory hallucinations threatening, accusing or commanding? appetite sleep--any problems mood affect ; illusions e.g. misinterpretation of visual stimuli in the environment such as a wavy pattern on a curtain perceived as a snake moving ; delusions People with complex ATOD problems are likely to need a psychiatric assessment. History of injecting and or other risk factors If in the past history, the person indicated they have injected drugs, the following should be explored. Ask if they: use clean needles and syringes and other injecting equipment `gear' ; ever share, needles, syringes and other injecting equipment including swabs, spoons, water for dilution, tourniquets--such as a piece of cloth or a belt can access supplies, clean needles and syringes know how to inject safely to protect veins and tissues know how to safely dispose of used injecting equipment. Treatment outcomes of new smear negative and new eptb patients registered from january to september 2001.

A88-16067'# Massachusetts Inst. of Tech., Cambridge. DESIGN OF A FORCE REFLECTING HAND CONTROLLER FOR SPACE TELEMANIPULATION STUDIES J. D. 8. PAINES MIT, Cambridge, MA ; IAF, International Astronautical Congress, 38th, Brighton, England, Oct. 10-17, 1987. 9 p. refs Contract NAGW-21 ; IAF PAPER 87-ST-01 ; The potential importance of space telemanipulator systems is reviewed, along with past studies of master-slave manipulation using a generalized force reflecting master arm. Problems concerning their dynamic interaction with the human operator have been revealed in the use of these systems, with marked differences between 1-g and simulated weightless conditions. A study is outlined to investigate the optimization of the man machine dynamics of master-slave manipulation, and a set of specifications is determined for the apparatus necessary to perform this investigation. This apparatus is a one degree of freedom force reflecting hand controller with closed loop servo control which enables it to simulate arbitrary dynamic properties to high bandwidth. Design of the complete system and its performance is discussed. Finally, the experimental adjustment of the hand controller dynamics for smooth manual control performance with good operator force perception is described, resulting in low inertia, viscously damped hand controller dynamics. The epidermal cells of the stem are covered with a moderately thick granular cuticle; the cells are polygonal or subrectangular, axially elongated, having straight anticlinal walls. The stomata are few and are of the ranunculaceous type with lignified appendages. The epidermis of the scaly leaf is covered with smooth upper ; or warty lower ; cuticle and consists of subrectangular to polygonal cells, having straight or sometimes slightly beaded anticlinal walls; few stomata are present resembling those of stem. The epidermis of the apical and marginal regions of the scaly leaf shows short papillae-like outgrowths. Chlorenchymatous palisade-like cells form the outer zone of the cortex; rounded ordinary parenchymatous cells form the inner zone of the cortex. Cortical parenchyma and pith cells contain an amorphous reddish brown substance. Non-lignified or lignified hypodermal and pericyclic fibres, which have thick walls, bear slit-like pits and blunt, slightly tapering, occasionally forked ends. The vessels of the secondary xylem of the stem are lignified with bordered pits, having rounded or oval apertures. The vessel segments have much inclined end walls, bearing foraminate perforation plates. The tracheids and fibrous tracheids of secondary xylem of the stem are lignified with bordered pits having oval or slit-like apertures. The fibres of the scaly leaf are lignified, usually irregular or nearly straight, having moderately thick walls and blunt or sometimes forked ends. Few, small, rounded, simple and compound starch granules with indistinct hilum are present in cortical parenchyma, pith, and medullary ray cells. Few, small prisms of calcium oxalate are present in the cortical parenchyma 4.

Quantitative applications of DIOS using TOF-MS have been previously described.4, 5, 13 In general these studies have demonstrated quantitative utility of the technique in relatively simple sample matrices such as purified enzyme or simple solutions of low molecular weight compounds, and have typically employed stable isotope labeled internal standards and vacuum region MALDI source designs. In this work we extend these investigations to explore the utility of AP-DIOS-ITMS for quantitative analytical applications as applied to a pair of prototypical sample types encountered in pharmaceutical discovery and development investigations.

Rhinoceros Beetle Control subject: Deepening Education Process: Learning by Living with Farmers in Pondicherry. details: Rhinoceros beetle Oryctes rhinocerous ; is a major problem in coconut. To get rid of this pest, two kg of castor is ground and placed in a pot filled with one to two litre of country liquor. This pot is then placed in the farm to possibly trap the beetles. One should take care that the cows don't feed on the contents, as it is poisonous. Patients who may have volume depletion from diuretic therapy or in patients who have low systolic blood pressure e.g., below 90 mmHg ; . Paradoxical bradycardia and increased angina pectoris may accompany nitrate-induced hypotension. Nitrate therapy may aggravate the angina caused by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In industrial workers who have had long-term exposure to unknown presumably high ; doses of organic nitrates, tolerance clearly occurs. There is, moreover, physical dependence since chest pain, acute myocardial infarction, and even sudden death have occurred during temporary withdrawal of nitrates from these workers. In clinical trials of angina patients, there are reports of anginal attacks being more easily provoked and of rebound in the hemodynamic effects soon after nitrate withdrawal. The importance of these observations to the routine, clinical use of oral isosorbide-5-mononitrate has not been fully elucidated. Caution should be exercised in patients with arterial hypoxemia due to anemia see CONTRAINDICATIONS ; . Similarly, caution is called for in patients with hypoxemia and a ventilation perfusion imbalance due to lung disease or ischemic heart failure. Patients with angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, or cerebral ischemia frequently suffer from abnormalities of the small airways especially alveolar hypoxia ; . Under these circumstances vasoconstriction occurs within the lung to shift perfusion from areas of alveolar hypoxia to better ventilated regions of the lung. As a potent vasodilator, isosorbide-5-mononitrate could reverse this protective vasoconstriction and thus result in increased perfusion to poorly ventilated areas, worsening of the ventilation perfusion imbalance, and a further decrease in the arterial partial pressure of oxygen. Tolerance to isosorbide-5-mononitrate with cross tolerance to other nitrates or nitrites may occur see ACTIONS AND CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY ; . As tolerance to isosorbide-5mononitrate develops, the effect of sublingual nitroglycerin on exercise tolerance, although still observable, is somewhat blunted. As patients may experience faintness and or dizziness, reaction time when driving or operating machinery may be impaired, especially at the start of treatment. Use in Pregnancy Teratogenic Effects: In studies designed to detect effects of isosorbide-5-mononitrate on embryo-fetal development, doses of up to 240 or 248 mg kg day, administered to pregnant rats and rabbits, were unassociated with evidence of such effects. No adverse effects on reproduction or fetal development were reported. These animal doses are about 100 times the maximum recommended human dose when comparison is based on body weight; when comparison is based on body surface area, the rat dose is about 17 times the human dose and the rabbit dose is about 38 times the human dose. There are no studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, IMDUR should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus and aceon.

Humans contract plague by inhaling it or from the bite of an infected flea. Plague infection takes three primary forms: - Bubonic - Pneumonic - Septicemic Only pneumonic plague is contagious through respiratory droplets with direct close contact within 6 feet ; . Plague is highly lethal if untreated. Plague can be treated with antibiotics if caught early. Some plague infections occur naturally each year usually bubonic and aldactone.
Pesach Customs of the Barsky Family Rabbi Shimshon Barsky of Bnei Brak, a son of Rabbi Noson Barsky and grandson of Rabbi Shimshon Barsky of Uman, remembered a number of customs and hanhagos of his father and grandfather. Rabbi Shimshon Barsky of Uman was a descendant of the Rebbe through his daughter Sarah, and a leading figure in the Breslov community before World War II. His son Reb Noson spent the first twenty years of his life with his parents in Uman, until in 1914 on the eve of World War I, he married the daughter of Rabbi Hennich Guterman, a Gerer Chassid from Lublin, Poland, who had become a Breslover. From then on, Reb Noson lived in Lublin, while his father remained in Uman until his passing in 1935. Reb Noson and his wife and seven children miraculously escaped to Eretz Yisrael on the last ship, two weeks before the outbreak of World War II, when Shimshon was four years old. Reb Noson Barsky's customs mentioned below were those of his father. * Reb Shimshon remembered that his father Reb Noson Barsky allowed the smaller children to eat gebrokhts. However, when the children were older, he no longer permitted gebrokhts in his home. * Reb Noson Barsky put out ten pieces of bread, but did not perform a lengthy bedikas chometz. * He wore a spodek and kittel at the Seder. * His wife and any other women present lit the candles when the men came home from shul. They were yotzei "Shehechiyanu" after Kiddush.

1. Skin decontamination. Dermal contamination should be washed off with soap and water. Flush contamination from the eyes with copious amounts of water. If irritation persists, specialized medical care should be obtained. See Chapter 2. Gastrointestinal decontamination. If a large amount of the fungicide has been ingested in the last few hours, and if copious vomiting has not already occurred, it may be reasonable to consider GI decontamination.Activated charcoal can be used along with the addition of the cathartic sorbitol to the charcoal slurry. If sorbitol is given separately, it should be diluted with an equal volume of water before administration. No more than one dose of sorbitol is recommended and it should be used with caution in children and the elderly. See Chapter 2 for appropriate dosages.

For all but the 25 30 age group, the estimated odds ratios were greater than 1. Only the 31 64 age group had a confidence interval that did not contain the value of 1. However, the other age-groups had smaller numbers of patients resulting in wider confidence intervals. Overall, there was no clear pattern across age groups.

The Research Triangle Park in North Carolina, one of the oldest and largest research parks, is a case in point. While still dominated by IBM, which has 10, 000 employees there, its second largest presence is pharmaceuticals giant GlaxoSmithKline, with around half that number of staff. The park also recently received 0 million to establish a new biotechnology centre. With over 100 research and development organizations and .2 billion in capital investment since 1959, the Research Triangle Park continues to exemplify what can be achieved through public private collaboration. Thirteen metropolitan areas -- Boston, San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York, San Diego, Seattle, Raleigh-Durham, Washington Baltimore, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, and St Louis -- account for the majority of biotechnology activity in North America, and each conurbation has at least one major university research park. Spin-off companies in North America have been shown to be concentrated in older parks associated with richer university environments, as well as parks geographically closer to their university partner Link, 2005 ; . Overall, then, the North American research climate is mature, characterized by biotechnology research parks in university settings. Europe Europe's quota of research parks nearly equals that of North America, but there is an important difference between the two. Funding for research parks in Europe comes mainly from government, whereas in North America the private sector is the prime source. As a result, the development of research parks in Europe often stems from government programs aimed at reinvigorating local economies through re- industrialization and supporting existing businesses Bigliardi, 2006 ; , At the same time, investment in biotechnology companies has increased to nearly 2 billion a year Ernst & Young, 2005 ; . Collaborations between universities and businesses remain central to the research park model in Europe; however, perhaps because higher education is funded primarily by the government, government bureaux invest the most capital in the parks and also manage most of them. Europe's research environment is a complex and mature one, as the Novum Research Park in Stockholm, Sweden, shows. The park was created by the Stockholm County Council and Karolinska Institute in 1984. Since and cardizem. The use of maternal ART has led to perinatal transmission rates of less than 2 percent, compared to rates as high as 36 percent in the absence of ART.87, 88 The literature regarding choice of ART during pregnancy, labor, and delivery continues to evolve rapidly. The landmark ACTG 076 study used a three-part AZT monotherapy regimen--antepartum and intrapartum for the mother, postpartum for the newborn--and reduced MTCT rates from 26 percent to 8 percent.89 Since that trial, a number of other studies have attempted to determine whether shorter courses of monotherapy for the mother and or infant, or combinations of ART, have equal or greater effi cacy.90 Efficacy has been shown for regimens involving AZT alone, AZT and lamivudine 3TC ; , NVP alone single-dose to mother and infant ; , AZT with single-dose NVP, and AZT and 3TC with single-dose NVP.91101 In wealthy countries, the current standard of care for pMTCT is triple-drug maternal ART.102 In a multivariate analysis, adjusting for maternal viral load and duration of therapy, the odds-ratio of MTCT for women receiving potent triple therapy compared with AZT monotherapy was 0.27, supporting the benefit of using three drugs.103 Furthermore, data from PACTG 367 demonstrated that the use of two or more drugs is superior to monotherapy.104.
